This graph is of comparative use: that is, it can be compared with any other filter on the market since it has been made with the standard 50/50 ohm input/output impedance, a common test value for this kind of equipment.

The 500 in some ways is the “mule” of all BlackNoise stable: it adapts itself well to any condition without any particular preference, being able to power either sources, preamps, power amps or integrated ones. The mains harmonics attenuation level is second only to the Extreme and with 500 W of maximum absorption to its disposal, the 500 is at ease in the great majority of situations.

The price of the 500 is the lowest of all BlackNoise range (second only to the MiniBlack), but that doesn’t mean that it’s just the “entry-level” model with limited performances: quite the contrary, it is the most flexible model with the best cost/quality ratio, adviced as a “first buy” if there are no peculiar needs or gears to match to.

Flexibility is distinctive of all BlackNoise models. Best results are obtained distributing audio/video electronics over more (and more specialized, Extreme - 2500) filters and if in the future your setup will be updated, the 500 can be effortlessly connected to another electronics that was before unsupplied. In this way the 500 could become the first element of a complete power-quality solution.

Of all accessories that are part of an audio/video setup, BlackNoise filters are for sure those that are less “accessories” than others, preserving their quality and their investments over time indipendently of their placement: the 500 adheres to the maximum degree to this perspective.
